City officials are hopeful the center will become a dynamic venue for Mexican American art and culture.
El Paso is set to open the doors to its highly anticipated Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) on March 22, offering a new space to celebrate and honor the city's Mexican American heritage.
A Landmark for the Community
Mayor Renard Johnson emphasized the significance of the MACC, calling it "more than just a building."
He highlighted that the center will serve as a transformative venue that honors the history, art, and contributions of the Mexican American community, positioning it as a cultural landmark for the city. “The MACC will bring people together to celebrate the rich diversity that makes El Paso such a special place,” Johnson added.
A Vision Brought to Life
The MACC is the result of the 2012 Quality-of-Life Bond, which was overwhelmingly supported by voters. With a budget of nearly $16 million, the project is being led by the City’s Capital Improvement Department.
City officials are hopeful the center will become a dynamic venue for Mexican American art and culture, offering a space for exhibitions, performances, and community engagement.
