Exclusive: Trump Appoints A Chicana From East L.A. To Deputy Assistant
The announcement was confirmed by the White House on its website over the weekend.
In a significant move, President Donald Trump has appointed Jennifer Korn, a Chicana from East Los Angeles, as Deputy Assistant to the President for his second term.
Korn's appointment marks a major milestone in her political career, as she will also serve as the director of the newly created White House Faith Office.
In a post on X, Korn reflected on her remarkable journey, stating, "Only in America could a little girl from East L.A. work their way up to work in two White House administrations."
The announcement was confirmed this past weekend through a notice on the White House website, where it was revealed that Korn, who previously worked in the White House during Trump’s first term, will return to serve in this newly expanded role.
The White House Faith Office, which President Trump established through an executive order upon taking office, is aimed at “empowering faith-based organizations to have a greater voice in the federal government.”
Korn's close friend, Jesse Holguin, is an ex-gang member who was shot and paralyzed, and later co-founded the LEXIT movement to encourage Latinos to break away from the Democrat Party.
On his X, he expressed pride and support for his sister, writing, "Congratulations to my sister... She is serving the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President..."
According to the Center for Presidential Transition, a Deputy Assistant to the President is a mid-level staff member who reports directly to an Assistant to the President.
The role involves managing specific policy areas and often serves as a second-in-command for that area.
Korn was previously highlighted as a Latina to watch by the Huffington Post in 2017.
Her appointment signals a continued effort by the Trump administration to amplify the influence of faith-based groups in policy-making.
