Immigration Activists Launch Boycott of American Brands
The movement’s activists argue that this boycott is a powerful act of resistance.
In a growing online movement, Latinos across the U.S. are making their voices heard by rejecting American products as a response to the ongoing wave of deportations.
One video making the rounds on social media shows a family at dinner, where a young man confronts his mother, saying, “How could you do that when Coca-Cola is turning its back on Mexicans?”
The video is part of a larger effort led by the Freeze Latino Movement, which is encouraging a boycott of American businesses as a protest against policies from the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The movement’s activists argue that this boycott is a powerful act of resistance, urging Latino consumers to redirect their spending away from U.S. corporations that they believe are complicit in the mistreatment of immigrants.
With Latinos now making up nearly 20% of the U.S. population, according to the latest Census data from 2023, the Freeze Latino Movement is seeking to leverage the collective power of Latino economic influence.
Their goal is to demonstrate the impact of the “Latino dollar” by withholding spending from specific businesses in order to push back against policies that they view as harmful to their community.
