Latinos Built the America We Know Today
Long before the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock, Spanish-speaking settlers were establishing cities and trade routes across what is now the American Southwest. This presence laid the groundwork for a rich mix of cultures that continue to define vast regions of the country.
But the impact of Latinos extends far beyond these early settlements. In the fields of California and the factories of the Midwest, Latino laborers became the backbone of America’s agricultural and industrial might.

Poll: Republicans and Democrats Both Viewed Negatively
After Donald Trump’s historic 48% support among Latino voters in 2024, there’s now a striking change in sentiment—not just toward Trump, but toward the political system as a whole.
According to the poll, there’s a growing sense that both political parties are more interested in blaming each other than actually helping struggling families.
Tejano Star David Lee Garza Hospitalized
Tejano music legend David Lee Garza, known as “The Godfather of Tejano,” has been hospitalized due to health concerns, leading to the cancellation of his upcoming performances. Garza was admitted to San Antonio Baptist Hospital after experiencing shortness of breath and fatigue, with doctors identifying fluid buildup in his lungs. He is currently under observation and expected to remain hospitalized through the weekend as a precaution.
The announcement, made by Freddie Records, included a statement from Garza’s band, David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, apologizing to fans and requesting prayers for his recovery.
For Subscribers: Myths Of Pancho Villa
Pancho Villa—born Doroteo Arango—is one of Mexico’s most fascinating historical figures, living and fighting between 1878 and 1923. Hundreds of books and articles have been written about him, each portraying Villa as either a hero or a child-eating ogre, depending on the author’s perspective.
This was true even during his lifetime. Many of Villa’s deeds were spread by word of mouth and transformed into legend. One such tale, for example, claims that General Villa dug up a dead man, put him on trial, and had him shot (again) to ensure proper justice.
Apple Removes ICE-Tracking Apps Citing Safety Concerns
Apple has removed several apps, including ICEBlock and ICE Immigration Alerts, from its App Store following concerns raised by U.S. law enforcement about potential safety risks to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
The apps, which allowed users to report sightings of ICE agents, were criticized by officials for allegedly endangering law enforcement personnel. Apple stated that the decision was made to maintain the App Store as a “safe and trusted place,” while Google also removed similar apps from its platform, citing policy violations.
Judge Halts National Guard Deployments to Portland… A Second Time
A federal judge has issued a broader order barring the relocation of any National Guard members from other states to Oregon for federal service, following the Trump administration’s deployment of California National Guard troops to Portland.
U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut criticized the administration for violating her earlier ruling, which found no legal justification for such deployments. The judge emphasized that there is no “threat of rebellion” in Portland and that local and state law enforcement are capable of managing protests.
