When “Pancho Villa” Attacked Columbus ⚔️
On March 9th, 1916, at three o’clock in the morning, Francisco “Pancho Villa” —the famous bandit, freedom fighter, victorious revolutionary general, and then again a fugitive—stormed into the U.S. with 480 soldiers to attack the town of Columbus, New Mexico.
At the time, Columbus was a settlement struggling to survive in the middle of the desert. There was a hotel, a bank, a drugstore, a clothing store, a church, and a railroad track which was its only contact with the outside world.

Judge Rules Trump’s Los Angeles Troop Deployment Illegal 🚨
A federal judge has ruled that President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles violated the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the military from performing domestic law enforcement functions without congressional approval.
The ruling, issued by U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer, found that the Pentagon systematically used troops for police activities such as crowd control and arrests during protests against Trump’s immigration policies. The decision bars the Pentagon from similar actions in California without explicit legal authorization.
California Schools To Alert Families Of Immigration Raids 🚔
California lawmakers have passed a bill requiring schools to notify families and staff when immigration enforcement agents are present on campuses. The legislation, authored by State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, aims to protect immigrant communities amid the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation efforts.
If signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, the law would mandate “early warning systems” similar to those used for other emergencies, ensuring families can make informed decisions about their safety.
Mexico’s Jaguar Population Rises 30% Amid Conservation Efforts 🐆
Mexico’s jaguar population has increased by 30% over the past 15 years, thanks to a nationwide conservation drive. A recent census found 5,326 jaguars in the country, up from 4,100 in 2010.
Researchers credit the growth to protected natural areas, reduced conflicts with cattle ranchers, and a public awareness campaign that has made the jaguar one of Mexico’s most recognized species. Despite the progress, the species remains at risk due to deforestation and habitat loss.
Democrats Lose Ground In New Voter Registrations 🔦
Republicans are outpacing Democrats in new voter registrations nationwide, with GOP registrations increasing by 35% compared to a 20% rise for Democrats. In New Jersey, the Democratic registration advantage has shrunk from 1.1 million to 860,000.
Republican strategists attribute the trend to growing interest among younger voters and a shift in public perception, while Democrats highlight gains in unaffiliated voters declaring for their party during primaries.
Democrats Face Pressure Over Redistricting Strategy 😒
Democrats are grappling with internal frustration as they struggle to counter Republican redistricting efforts ahead of the 2026 midterms. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is urging blue-state governors to take a more aggressive approach, including abandoning independent redistricting commissions.
However, constitutional restrictions and political resistance in states like Colorado and Washington have hampered Democratic efforts to redraw maps in their favor.
