Trump Wins Largest Share Of Latino Vote For A Republican In 24 Years
According to exit polls, Trump won approximately 13% of the Black vote and 45% of the Latino vote.
Donald Trump secured victory in the 2024 presidential election on Wednesday, securing a second term in office and garnering significant voter support among Latino and Black voters in key swing states.
It was the largest share of Latino voters for a Republican since George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004.
While Harris focused much of her campaign on Trump, polling consistently showed that voters prioritized economic issues, particularly rising costs and inflation.
Trump's support from Black and Latino voters marked a notable shift compared to the 2020 election. According to CNN exit polls, he won approximately 13% of the Black vote and 45% of the Latino vote, compared to 8% and 32%, respectively, in the previous election.
Trump’s decisive win follows a breakthrough in pivotal states like North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, which put him over the 270-electoral vote threshold.
The victory makes him only the second U.S. president to be elected to two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland in 1893.
